BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has vowed to provide foreign experts serving China with better working and living conditions.     Wen made the remark in meeting with 50 chosen foreign specialists and their families at the Great Hall of People here on Monday, in which he issued the experts Friendship Award of the year on behalf of the Chinese government. They have been engaged in journalism, agriculture, education, health, engineering and other specialties.     The Chinese government has given the award to 999 foreign experts from 58 countries since 1991.

TIANJIN, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- China has full confidence and capability to overcome various difficulties to ensure sound and fast economic growth for an even longer period of time, said Premier Wen Jiabao on Saturday.     Addressing the opening ceremony of the 2008 Summer Davos Forum in the north China port metropolis of Tianjin, Wen said China is in the stage of rapid industrialization and urbanization, and has huge potential for economic growth. The important period of strategic opportunities for China's development will last quite a long time.     Despite the heavy snow and sleet storms and the devastating earthquake and a complex situation both at home and abroad the nation faced, China have overcome difficulties one after another and maintained the momentum of steady economic growth.     "There are many favorable conditions for China to maintain sustained and fast growth, such as abundant supply of labor and capital as well as huge potential of increased domestic consumption and investment demands, vast market and more competitive and dynamic enterprises," said Wen.     The demands for investment, consumption and export are growing in a more balanced way. GENEVA -- The Tibet issue is not an ethnic issue, not a religious issue, nor a human rights issue, but an issue either to safeguard national unification or to split the motherland, a Chinese diplomat said in Geneva on Friday."The Tibet issue is entirely an internal issue of China which concerns the country's sovereignty," said Qian Bo, counsellor of the Chinese Mission to the UN Office in Geneva.The diplomat was addressing a regular session of the UN Human Rights Council, during which some delegates made biased comments on the so-called human rights situation in Tibet.Those delegates' comments were "an evident act of politicizing human rights and practicing double standards," said Qian.Qian stressed that the human rights situation in Tibet had improved continuously since its peaceful liberation in 1951.He said Tibetans are now enjoying full religious freedom and their traditional culture has also been carried forward."The progress and achievements made in Tibet are facts that cannot be written off by lies and libels," he said.The diplomat stressed that the violent crimes committed in March in Lhasa, the capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, were mastermind and incited by the ** clique aimed at splitting the motherland.The riot has nothing to do with human rights, so China cannot accept any unreasonable accusations, he said.The diplomat also urged the Human Rights Council to avoid politicizing human rights and remove double standards in order to maintain its prestige and credibility.

BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Premier Wen Jiabao said on Tuesday that China supported the Caribbean integration process.     "China will strengthen dialogue with the Caribbean community based on mutual respect, reciprocity and equality to promote south-south cooperation and achieve common prosperity," said Wen. BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- President Hu Jintao on Thursday urged the Chinese army to carry forward the courageous spirit it had shown in the earthquake relief work earlier this year to better serve the people.     Hu, also the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee general secretary and Central Military Commission chairman, made the remark here while meeting soldiers and officers who were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the disaster relief work.     On Wednesday, China held a ceremony to honor outstanding organizations and individuals for their contributions to the rescue and relief work after a catastrophic earthquake hit the southwestern Sichuan and some neighboring provinces on May 12, leaving more than 87,000 dead or missing.     The People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops and armed police were among the first to provide rescue and relief following the quake. In total, 146,000 troops, armed police, reservists and police were mobilized for the rescue and relief. Chinese President Hu Jintao (1st.
