US President Donald Trump signed orders on Thursday to impose 25 percent tariff on steel imports and 10 percent on aluminum imports from March 23, but he made exemptions for Mexico and Canada, two of countries that are renegotiating North American Free Trade Agreement and possible exceptions for other US military allies.
US accusations regarding China's business practices, including trade and intellectual property rights, are a "distortion of facts", the Ministry of Commerce said.
US Congressman Pete Olson of Texas viewed the current differences between Washington and Beijing as "just a little friction between two countries that love each other. I agree with President Trump that we need to have trade that's fair, but I disagree with him imposing tariff after tariff".
