The region has aspired to boost winter tourism in recent years, alluring visitors with skiing, ice fishing and other winter activities. It welcomed 2.26 million tourists last winter and expects over 3 million this winter.
The region received 78.3 million tourism visits from January to July, an increase of 38.7 percent year-on-year. In 2017, the vast region, which accounts for more than one-sixth of China's territory, received more than 107 million visits from tourists, up by 32.4 percent year-on-year, according to the commission.
The remarks were made during a business and investment matching meeting for local governments, investors, and financial organizations held on Wednesday in Beijing.
The regular epidemic prevention and control mechanism for COVID-19 should be constantly improved to increase efficiency and accuracy, the circular said. Efforts should also be made to boost the recovery of the passenger transport, catering, tourism and hotel industries.

The report showed that in the first half, the net profit of city and rural commercial banks dropped by 12.6 percent year-on-year in Northeast China, 8.65 percent in the Circum-Bohai Sea region and 0.16 percent in West China. In the central and southeast coastal regions, however, the net profit of city and rural banks grew 0.87 percent and 5.36 percent, respectively.
