Jointly organized by the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality, the two-day forum titled "China and the World: Progressing Together Over 70 Years" gathered 500 scholars and opinion leaders from various fields to study the development of China and the world from political, economic, cultural and social perspectives.
Jin Keyu, associate professor at the London School of Economics, said it is striking that Chinese people have confidence in their government, which is in marked contrast to their counterparts in the West.
Joachim von Amsberg, vice-president of policy and strategy at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, said the BRI has consolidated partnerships. While there are challenges, opportunities abound, he said in a panel discussion.
Job gains continued to trend up in professional and business services and in health care, the bureau said.
