BEIJING, July 24 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese government supports UN's leading role in promoting international cooperation to curb climate change, Premier Wen Jiabao said here Friday.     Wen made the remarks while meeting with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who arrived here Thursday evening for a four-day visit. He stressed it is of key importance to stick to the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities" when responding to climate change, and to take into consideration the interests and voices of developing countries.     Ban also expressed hope for a fruitful Copenhagen summit on climate change in December with joint efforts from all parties concerned.

BEIJING, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- China will welcome more foreign experts to participate in the country's economic and social development, said Vice Premier Li Keqiang on Sunday.     "The development and achievements China made in the past 60 years have been the result of the united efforts of the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, together with the hard work and dedication of numerous foreign experts," said Li. LANZHOU, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- A total of 550 primary and middle school students flew back to quake-hit Chinese provinces from Russia Wednesday after completing a three-week recuperative tour.     The teenagers, 340 from Sichuan Province, 110 from Gansu Province and 100 from Shaanxi Province, were invited by the Russian government to recuperate at the "Ocean" All-Russia Children's Care Center in Vladivostok, Far East, since July 23.     The students boasted excellent performance at their schools and demonstrated bravery in the devastating earthquake in May last year. "They were very thoughtful."     "I was also very happy to make friends with students from many other countries, such as Russia, Japan and Vietnam," six-grader Zhang Dapeng from Gansu's Wenxian County said. "I enjoyed learning different cultures from them."     On May 12, 2008, an 8.0-magnitude earthquake jolted Sichuan and neighboring Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, leaving more than 87,000 dead or missing and more than 370,000 injured.     Since 2008, two batches of more than 1,500 pupils from Sichuan, Gansu, and Shaanxi have been invited to recuperate in Russia. Last year, the first group of 1,018 students went to Russia for rehabilitation.

SHANGHAI, July 30 (Xinhua) -- China would firmly stick to its moderately easy monetary policy and concrete the recovery momentum of the country's economy, said vice governor of China's central bank on Wednesday. Su Ning, Vice Governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC) made the remarks in a meeting held in the bank's Shanghai-based headquarter, saying a proactive fiscal policy and moderately easy monetary policy were crucial for sustained growth.     Despite an initial economy recovery resulted from the government's stimulus efforts in the first half, the country still faced severe difficulties and challenges from both domestic and abroad.     In the second half, the PBOC would use a set of monetary policy mix to coordinate a "reasonable" credit structure based on market rules, and to ensure more loans to major infrastructure construction and technology innovation, Said Su.     China's economy rebounded to grow 7.9 percent in the second quarter driven by a surge of fixed-asset investment backed by government's 4-trillion-yuan stimulus package on last September.     Chinese banks lent a record 7.37 trillion yuan in the first half to shore up the economy, which sank to 6.1 percent in the first quarter.

BEIJING, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- China's railways carried 60.75 million passengers nationwide around the seven days of National Day holidays and one day of Mid-Autumn Festival, the Ministry of Railways said on Friday.     The figure was 2.18 million more or 3.7 percent up from the same period last year, according to the ministry.     The peak transport season lasted for eleven days from Sept. 28 to Oct. 8. BEIJING, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- China on Wednesday called for more policy assistance and financial support to encourage the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).     Attendees at a State Council executive meeting, chaired by Premier Wen Jiabao, agreed that promoting the sound development of the SMEs was of great importance to maintain economic growth and social stability.     The government would exert more efforts to improve the policy and law system to create a more open and fair competition environment for SMEs.     Measures would be taken to help SMEs tackle financing difficulties, and the establishment of the Growth Enterprise Market (GEM), the country's first Nasdaq-style market, would speedup helping small companies raise fund.     The central government would also increase funding to support the SMEs, especially in sectors such as technological innovation, industrial structure adjustment and employment.     The government would pick some SMEs to participate in the country's subsidized purchasing program of home appliances, agricultural machinery and automobiles in rural areas as well as the auto, home appliance replacement program.     Attendees at the meeting demanded better services for SMEs and support to promote technological progress and structure adjustment in SMEs.     They also reviewed and approved draft regulations on national body-building and on the administration of joint-venture establishment of foreign companies or individuals in China. Both regulations would be released to public after further revision.
